19 - Classmate Blog Critique

Abby Flow

Abby Flow is a sophomore Mass Communication major at Southern Arkansas University. Her work in the Reporting and Writing for the Mass Media class this semester was outstanding and gave readers an insightful overview of many local, national, and international issues.

Viewers of Abby's website are met with a fun photo collage, featuring pictures of her friends, a very cute dog, and general fashion-related graphics. This collage is a testament to Abby's personality and adds a nice personal touch to her website, drawing readers in by revealing the human behind the projects. 

The blog is very clean and aesthetically pleasing. Her template, a similar one to mine, is easy to navigate and offers a good preview of each project. The visuals and links she provides integrate well within her text, and nothing seems out of place. I like that all her text is flush left, as I format my own assignments this way and believe it helps our work flow.

One of Abby's best projects was Hometown Feature News. I loved her use of visuals in this assignment, particularly the side-by-side images of the bar and burger from Lefty's on the Square in Magnolia.

I did not know it was possible to place two images next to each other in Google Blogger, so her project inspired me to experiment with my own use of interactivity. 

Abby's storytelling ability as a sophomore is impressive, and I know she will continue to improve. I enjoyed viewing her assignments and look forward to her work in future classes. Great job!
